Multi-Account Containers paired with Container Proxy allows for some really cool setups. I especially like the options to use socks proxies. Hope they will add proper proxy support later.

I pair it with wireproxy [0]. This way you can assign any Wireguard-capable VPN for specific containers. It's extremely useful.

Managed to get up and running quickly with this and https://github.com/pia-foss/manual-connections for Private Internet Access.

This is great, previously I was just using every wireguard tunnel as a traditional interface and hosting a socks proxy on the network on the other end.

Same here, probably my most used feature. Really useful if you route all of your traffic through a VPN by default, but you want to selectively route something outside of it. Just route it through a socks proxy running in your homelab.

What are the cool setups with proxies?

It allows me to access different networks (that might only be reachable via jumphosts or similar) from the same browser. Also at work - some required browser based tools are only accessible via specific proxies. With container specific proxies that's a breeze.

A piezo button would be neat, might be able to generate enough electricity for each use without having to rely on a battery at all. Not sure about the form factor here though.

Assuming most of the weight of that ring is the battery, it appears to be storing around 0.5Wh, so two years of operation should amount to approximately 30uW of power.

It should be possible to squeeze this much from a 0.5mm2 amorphous cell in direct sunlight. Considering the ring is 6.6mm wide at the widest point, they could get orders of magnitude more power even in poor lighting conditions, by just wrapping a thin-film solar panel around the ring.

They're tiny, they're light and even though woefully inefficient, they should do the trick.


I was thinking also about some kind of coil. Being a ring it should be possible to induce a current, with the chassis as a ground.


It would be funny if solar panels worked this way. We could just spray paint our homes with them. Free energy!!


Not sure that would work. Charging is not 100% efficient, and if I remember correctly most batteries need to reach a minimum current to start actual charging. When you're talking micro or pico amps, it barely registers as a signal in most cases.

Indeed, I have a remote doorbell where the outer button is a piezo button and the inside bell part is connected to a socket. But the button is quite thick, presumably because it needs a bit of travel to get enough energy. Granted that's for a device that sends multi-wall penetrating strength of 433Mhz radio waves. For something like this where the distance is only about 25cm you might be able to get a button small enough.

This topic of time being a western construct, it's impact on society and life is one of the subjects in the excellent book "Borderliners" [1] by Peter Høeg. A favorite of mine, though I never read the English translation. It's a fascinating topic, and impacts our live more than we might be aware of or care to admit. I started thinking about it in a different way after reading this book.

I'd love to work with this. The normal web view is annoyingly slow. Too bad it is not compatible with Api v2 used by on-prem Jira instances.

It will probably actually cause them less problem then a system that never update though. Remember Wannacry? Those pirated system with windows update completely disabled?
